Kaspersky Secur’IT Cup’23 registration opened

Hi Everyone,

Motivated students and young cybersecurity researchers eager to change the world for the better can apply for participation in the Secur’IT Cup, an international competition run by Kaspersky and aimed at tackling security issues posed by modern technologies. Participants can enter the contest both as teams or individually.

As latest technologies open up new digital pathways and broaden our horizons, they can also bring new security challenges. Committed to building a safer world, Kaspersky has been at the forefront of countering cyberthreats, and has been continuously sharing its world-class expertise with the community, especially the youth, who will take over this mission in the future.

This year marks the launch of the sixth edition of Kaspersky’s international Secur’IT Cup. The main goal of the contest is to support young talent in their professional development, enabling them to create solutions to mitigate the security issues that are emerging with the appearance of new technologies and the ones that may occur in the future.

For the Secur’IT Cup’23, participants can come up with ideas for the solutions addressing security challenges in these particular fields:

· Gaming & Geeks
participants may propose their reliable and innovative security solutions, that increase the efficiency of gadgets and contribute to the safety of the gaming world.

· FinTech
contestants develop their cyber defense projects for the financial industry that can help people around the world be more protected from attacks and cybercrimes.

· Tracking & Security of people and things
talented young people can offer their projects to secure data protection and its legitimate tracking and collection.

· Family care
contenders are encouraged to come up with projects in the fields of Elderly Care or Pet Care.

“We have always highlighted the importance of supporting young talent, and this year our team is focusing on the idea of turning our annual contest into a real ‘growing house’. To help the participants to develop and apply their projects, we will provide them with our special webinars and sessions with Kaspersky experts,” comments Evgeniya Russkikh, Head of Academic Affairs at Kaspersky. “I hope it will not only encourage young talent to develop great ideas, but also turn these ideas into valuable products, which will be successfully functioning after the competition’s completion.”

This year, the contest will be divided into four main stages:

· 02.10.23 – 15.10.23 – developing an idea;

· 16.10.23 – 29.10.23 – providing a business model;

· 30.10.2023 – 12.11.2023 – introducing prototype design;

· 13.11.2023 – 26.11.2023 – idea finalization.

Each stage will be dedicated to a particular project milestone and will be marked by the enhanced support provided to the participants by the Kaspersky team. For instance, the business model development stage will include a webinar, during which participants will learn how to calculate these models, which key performance indicators to address, and other useful details. While during the “idea development” and “prototype development” stages, participants may ask the Kaspersky team for expert advice.

Simultaneously with the global stream, the regional stream of the contest will be running, helping students to get involved in the global competition. The regional stream will be made up of local events, where students gather into teams and develop their projects. As a result, the team that presents the best project as part of a regional event qualifies into the global finals.

The final event will take place online on December 13, 2023. The winning prize is $10,000, the second-place award is $3,000 and an e-learning training by Kaspersky, and the third place trophy is an e-learning training by Kaspersky.

GUARDIAN’S ‘THE FACE OF HEALTHY BEAUTY’ SOUTHERN REGION WINNERS ADVANCE TO GRAND FINALS

Hi Everyone,

Four winners from Guardian’s popular nationwide contest ‘The Face of Healthy Beauty’ 2023 (TFHB 2023) Johor leg are one step closer to becoming the next Guardian Healthy Beauty Ambassadors as they move on to the Grand Finals.

The winners were

· Ayshah Abdul Rahman, 31, a business owner and model.

· Candace Cheah, 27, an undergraduate veterinary student.

· Joan Na, 26, a wealth advisor.

· Lim Wen Hui, 22, an undergraduate TESL student.

The deserving four were selected among 19 semi-finalists after a rigorous two-day audition at Paradigm Mall in Johor Bahru which attracted individuals between ages 18 to 55 from Johor as well as Kuala Lumpur.

Final year veterinary student Candace Cheah was overjoyed when she was selected as one of the four finalists to compete in the Grand Finals.

“I am so excited and looking forward to the Grand Finals now. The contest became tougher as we drew to a close and I knew it was a tough call for the judges as every contestant had their own distinct qualities. There were so many beautiful and unique women from different ages and backgrounds, and I am honoured to have the judges select me to be one of the finalists.,” she said.

Candace who travelled from Kuala Lumpur alone to compete in the selection process was a repeat contestant after her first attempt in 2019 during the first edition of TFHB.

The four winners from the Southern region will join 12 other finalists selected at the Northern and Central regions to compete in the Grand Finals which will be held at Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall in Petaling Jaya on 21 October 2023.

Guardian’s second edition of TFHB sets itself apart by steering away from traditional beauty standards to a broader, inclusive definition. It is NOT a beauty contest as the campaign celebrates healthy beauty by encouraging everyone to embrace their unique qualities both inside and out.

The Healthy Beauty individual is a person who is happy, loving, fun, positive and dynamic as well as gentle and passionate, with a confidence built from feeling good about themselves holistically.

Through their lifestyle and attitude, they also inspire others to do things that make them feel happy and fulfilling, which leads to a healthy and beautiful life.

This comprehensive approach to wellness does not just consider natural beauty, but also mental, emotional, and social well-being as it shifts the focus from superficial standards of beauty to a more sustainable, wholesome, and inclusive definition.

Touted as the first-of-its-kind in Malaysia, the search for ‘The Face of Healthy Beauty’ is a nationwide quest to find FOUR individuals, who best fit the bill as ‘The Face of Healthy Beauty’ to be Guardian’s healthy beauty ambassadors.

The four (4) winners from the Grand Final will each receive:

• One (1) year contract with Guardian.
• Feature on Guardian’s catalogue cover page and other sales material.
• RM10,000 cash and RM10,000 worth of vouchers.
• Products from participating sponsors.
• RM5,000 worth of Guardian bath care products to a charity organisation of the winner's choice.

The TFHB 2023 contest will now move to Vivacity Mall, Kuching Sarawak (16-17 September 2023) for its last leg to select another four finalists for the Grand Finals.

Guardian customers can play a role in the selection process by vote, from 18 September – 8 October 2023 on the microsite (https://theface.guardian.com.my), for their favourite finalist to win at the Grand Finals. The votes received for each finalist will contribute towards 40% of the total scores at the Grand Finals.
